In the Toddler Classroom this week the theme for the week is the Frog. The children enjoyed the books, “The Icky Sticky Frog” and the “Rain Forest Discoveries”. The children made frogs out of construction paper and were presented with the life cycle of the frog. This is a great way to help them understand the world around them and to connect with nature. The children participated in cutting a banana for snack. This is a simple food preparation activity that helps the children develop independence, while supportiing the their self-esteem and provides snack all in one! The Sensorial Presentation was the Rainbow Arch Activity-the children enjoyed exploring this activity. This is a fun way for them to build color recognition skills, creativity and imagination.

This week in the Maple Room the children learned about community helpers. We discussed different professions, doctors, teachers, fire fighters, lawyers, bus drivers, dentistis, ect. We also had a discussion about the various territories in Australia. We talked about the native people and aboriginal art. We talked about the kangaroo in detail. The children continue to work well at their respective levels, the older children are looking forward to the Science Fair this Friday.

The children are progressing very well in language, the older children are continuing with their sentence writing and reading skills. The children are also working on a balancing board with small blocks, they enjoy the challenge of figuring out how to make the board even on both sides so that it is balanced. The children are also working on parts of the kangaroo, making a kangaroo booklet There was a discussion about the Australian flag, the children were able to color the Australian flag. The classroom is also working on fractions! Have a great weekend everyone!- The Pine Room Staff
