Cedar Room Parent Night is Tuesday, May 21, the Pine Room is Wednesday, May 22 and Maple Room is Thursday, May 23. Please join us from 6:00-7:00 pm.

The center will be closed on Monday, May 27 for the Memorial Day holiday! Have a safe and enjoyable long weekend!

Thursday, May 30th is our Spring Concert at the Novi Civic Center from 6:00-7:00 pm. We hope to see you there!

It was another busy week at Novi Woods Montessori!

In the Toddler Classroom the theme was flowers. The children learned the parts of the flower-petal, stem, leaves and buds. The children created a Hyacinth flower by painting with a bottle cap over a piece of construction paper. The children enjoyed listening to “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?” and “Ebb and Flow”. Our Grace and Courtsey lesson involved saying please and thank you, being mindful, avoid talking with a mouth full of food, how to cough and sneeze, how to blow our nose, etc. These lessons will help the children through out their life to be respectful, compassionate and to be caring members of our society. The sensorial presentation was the pink tower-by using this material the child is able to understand the concept of “large” vs “small”. This activity also helps develop body control, as well as sizing, dimension, order and concentration. The children have also enjoyed running and playing outdoors in the nicer weather! Please make sure to label all of your child’s belongings. Thank You!!

In the Maple Room we have started practicing for our spring recital which is on May 30th. The children are excited to perform for family and friends.

The children are doing very well reviewing the concepts they have learned throughout the school year. Thank you to Ritu’s parents for donating materials to the classroom for her birthday. The older children are into reading and sentence formation. Bring a Parent to School Night is Thursday, May 23 for our classroom. We hope to see you there!

In the Pine Room we are continuing our study on Antarctica and penguins. The children have been practicing for the spring concert. We have been observing our caterpillars and most of them have gone into a coccoon so we will be putting them in the habitat today! The children are very excited as we will be observing them as they become beautiful butterflies. The children participated in banana cutting and learned portion control as they measured by spoonfuls. We also reinforced what to do when coughing and sneezing (cover and washing hands). The younger children are working more in the sensorial area and are learning more about sizes such as the pink tower and the brown stairs (smallest to biggest). In science we have been reviewing what we have learned throughout the year. For our Grace and Courtesy presentation we are practicing our manners by saying “excuse me” when we need to get by someone instead of pushing our way through. Parents- if you have any problems getting the outfits for the concert please let Ms. Dee know right away, again girls pink or purple tutu with the top to match and boys plain white t-shirt and dark pants or shorts. Ms. Dee does have some white t-shirts for sale for $2.00 each, She has size 6/8and size 4. You can look at them and if you need to purchase one just let one of the teachers know. Please feel free to take a look with your child at the caterpillar habitat but please remind your child to not touch as we do not want to disturb this delicate process. Just a reminder-Bring a Parent to school night is Wednesday, May 22 from 6:00-7:00 pm. Please only one parent to participate as we do not have enough space for both parents and your child. If you have any questions please contact one of the teachers. Have a great weekend! Pine Room Staff.
